Debra Honey is a registered nurse with more than 30 years of experience in healthcare.  She is founder and president of Honey Consulting, Inc., a healthcare firm providing expertise in clinical operations and patient care services, operational and performance improvement specializing in quality and patient safety, nursing leadership and staff development, interdisciplinary integration, and CNE executive coaching and interim executive assignments. Previously, Ms. Honey served as Vice President for Clinical Operations and Clinical Leadership Development for Catholic Health Initiatives, Denver Colorado, a large non-profit healthcare system in the US.  Her responsibilities included nursing and clinical operational support for system initiatives and the individual hospitals.  Provided internal leadership and direction for nursing, as well as, for major system-wide clinical initiatives.  Supporting and directing system hospital specific nursing leadership needs and gaps was a key function.  Other relevant expertise include workforce and nursing competency, nursing leadership, clinical leadership education, training and development, electronic medical record planning and implementation and business intelligence implementation.  Debbi also has been in leadership roles and participated in major quality and safety initiatives, clinical service line assessment, development and operations, outcome measurement and dashboard development, clinical representation for supply chain, strategic capital allocation and technology assessment, facility planning and construction, and risk management initiatives.

Ms. Honey’s prior experience includes clinical nursing, primarily in critical care, emergency services and surgical services, nursing leadership and has taught nursing at the diploma, bachelor and masters levels.  She also has extensive experience in medical staff services and has worked as a human resources professional and professional recruiter.

Ms. Honey holds certifications from the American Organization of Nurse Executives (CENP – Certified in Executive Nursing Practice), American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE – Fellow Status) and the Healthcare Quality Certification Board (CPHQ – Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality).  She is a member of the prestigious Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellow Program in the 2008 cohort.

Ms. Honey holds a BSN from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga and a MHA from the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota.
